Last year I put out a video answering the question "Skiing Near Leesburg? Really?" Those videos included great info on our local resorts and also on how to save money skiing in the area to include info on local ski swaps, programs for elementary school kids to ski free and how to take advantage of the Epic Pass program.
The big news for this year is that Seven Springs Resort is now part of the Epic program!! That's BIG news for this area. Seven Springs is 3x bigger than Liberty and just under 3 hours away.
Epic passes are now on sale, and if you buy your pass before April 21, they include 10 buddy passes, which are essentially 40-50% discount vouchers you can give to family and friends.
At $626, the Epic Local Pass might seem like a heavy investment. But, a 3 day adult lift ticket to Vail (as an example) during the regular season cost almost $700 at the ticket window! So, with the adult Epic Local Pass price sitting at $626, you save money immediately if you plan a single trip out west to Colorado, and it makes all your local skiing essentially free! Especially with the 20% off that passholders get on food, lodging, lessons, and rentals.
If you aren't planning a trip out west, you can get the Northeast Value Pass for $514. But, if you only plan a few days at Liberty, you're probably better off just buying your lift tickets a week or so before. Daily tickets to Liberty are about $80 each, so you'd need about 6 days of skiing to make the Northeast pass worthwhile.
They also have discounted passes for college students, teens (13-17), kids (under 13), as well as massive discounts for military, veterans, and their families. If you miss the April 21 window, you can still get your season pass until sometime this fall, but you lose the Buddy Passes.
For my family, we are buying 2 Epic Local passes, and we'll use the buddy passes to take our college kids out west for a family vacation. Then we can go skiing near Leesburg for a couple of day trips to the local resorts and they'll essentially be free for us!
