Lansdowne on the Potomac
When you talk about Lansdowne, you have to be very specific about what you mean. You could be referring to the Lansdowne Town Center, filled with shopping and dining!
And then there's Lansdowne Resort, which is a self-proclaimed "sanctuary for spa and wellness enthusiasts, golfers, foodies and travelers seeking rejuvenation". And truly - it is a magnificent resort, boasting 45 holes! That's two 18-hole courses, plus an executive 9-hole course!
And if you're interested in Lansdowne real estate and homes for sale here, then you might be referring to Lansdowne Woods or the Vistas at Lansdowne, both of which are 55+ retirement communities.
Or just maybe you are referring to Lansdowne on the Potomac, a gorgeous neighborhood with almost 2,500 homes (a mix of detached single family homes and townhomes). And if that's the case, and you're here looking for community and Real Estate information about Lansdowne on the Potomac, then you're in the right place!
Location, Location, Location...
Lansdowne on the Potomac has so much going for it. Location is one of the biggest. Goose Creek (in the map below), divides River Creek Country Club from Lansdowne. Goose Creek has a great hiking trail and it actually connects all the way around along the Potomac, creating a beautiful nature hike! You can also do a little fishing or even paddle board here if you want!

And, I have to mention that Lansdowne on the Potomac is also right next to the Lansdowne medical complex, including Inova Lansdowne Hospital, the largest hospital in the region. If you are going to see a doctor, it's very likely that doctor's office is 5 minutes away or less! This is also one of the reasons that so many 55+ adults flock to Lansdowne Woods!
And of course, whenever you are looking for a place to call home, you also want to know what else is nearby for shopping and dining. The Harris Teeter at Lansdowne Town Center is one of the best grocery stores around (okay, honest moment, it's my second favorite, not first... but Wegman's is just five minutes further!). And the Lansdowne Town Center has a ton of other shops and restaurants. Right after I shot the video above, I went to eat at T'Kila, a brand new taqueria in the Town Center.
And if that's not enough, you've also got the Village at Leesburg and Belmont Chase nearby. So many options!
Amenities at Lansdowne on the Potomac
While living in Lansdowne on the Potomac does NOT get you access to Lansdowne Resort (sorry, no free golf), the HOA here does provide some amazing amenities. It's one of the only neighborhoods with a 25-meter indoor pool, open year-around (not just during the summer). Lansdowne also has a great indoor fitness center, meeting rooms and a game room. And in the summer, the community hosts an outdoor concert series in their own outdoor amphitheater! Outside amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, three tennis courts, a basketball court and multiple playgrounds!
And while I don't think of "schools" as an amenity... within the boundaries of the neighborhood, they have their own elementary, middle school and high school. I'm not saying you can go run on the high school track, but it's super convenient to have all the schools within such close proximity!
The Homes at Lansdowne on the Potomac
As I mentioned earlier, there are a variety of home sizes and styles here. About a third of the homes are attached townhomes, which vary greatly in size. You can find a 2,300 square foot, 3 bedroom, one car garage townhome here in the low $600K's. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, here's this 4,100 square foot townhome with a THREE car garage (which is quite a rare find!) This home sold in 2023 for $950K.
And here's a single family detached home with roughly the same square footage for $1.1M. I love the stone fireplace and high ceilings on the family room on this one! And the front porch is adorable!
On the high end of the sales spectrum, this 7,100 square foot home sold for just under $1.5M. Here's where terms like "coffered ceiling" start to show up. But, what I really love about this home is the backyard. I love the covered decking and the backyard open space!
