November 2018

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year.  Love the concept of "giving thanks" and appreciating family, friends and loved ones over a table of food.  No gifts, no fireworks!  Just food and conversation.

Before you open your home to guests this November (or go away to visit someone else for the holidays), make sure you winterize your home, check your A/C filters, and ensure your fire detectors are working.  These are things everyone is supposed to do when they set their clocks back... And ensuring that these things are taken care of can really reduce headaches come winter.

November through February is a GREAT time to be in the real estate market!  Inventory is typically down this time of the year (which means - less competition for sellers!) and buyers are typically very serious this time of the year (which means - they really want to buy - not just come out to kick the tires!)  If you are thinking about buying or selling a home during this time, please reach out to me!

PRO tips for residential home sellers & buyers:

  • SELLERS -  Your home needs to STAND OUT to get a good offer.  Before you even consider putting your home on the market... lets discuss what steps/budget are appropriate to update your home to appeal to as many buyers as possible.  Remember:  this is a product now (not your personal space) - so it's important to make little updates if they haven't been tackled previously.  I typically hire a staging consultant for all of my listings and generate a "to do" list of items my sellers address before professional pictures are taken.  NOTE: if you KNOW you want to go on the market but the interior of your home isn't photo ready - we can still get outside pictures done (with drone photography too!) while the grass is still green and there are leaves on the trees - and then move to interior photos once you've made the appropriate updates!
  • BUYERS - (assuming you need a loan to pay for a home) - Interest rates have definitely gone up in 2018, but in the grand scheme of things, they are not really that high (I think my parents paid double digit interest rates when they bought a home in VA Beach in 1979).  You can shop around for lenders now without impacting your credit rating - and you can find deals from credit unions, too!

Call or text me - I'd love to consult with you on your real estate needs - whether you want to LOVE your home or LIST your home!!!
